Valais lambs bring happiness during lockdown!

Updated: Jun 28, 2020

When the UK went into lockdown on 23rd March 2020 life changed for us all. Things we all take for granted became no longer safe for us to do, everyday things, going to the shops, meeting up with friends, children going to school and even going to work it all stopped! Frontline workers kept and are still keeping the country going, the NHS was put under pressure, a huge amount of lives were lost and the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic keeps going on as slowly restrictions are being lifted.

As a family we consider ourselves lucky that we have our sheep right on our doorstep and even luckier that we had lambs due during this awful time. looking after the sheep is therapy in itself, they are always pleased to see you and can make you smile on the hardest of days.

The end of April when the first of the lambs were due was something to focus on, three lambs arrived by 1st May, a single ram and twin ewes. since then we have had these gorgeous babies to enjoy, Hoppity, one of the ewe lambs was obviously trodden on by mum so spent the first few days of her life giving us something to worry about but after a check over from our vet no fracture was found so she was given an anti-inflammatory to relieve any pain and she was soon back on all four feet...but the name Hoppity has stuck with her! Hope you enjoy the photographs as much as we enjoy taking them! Stay safe everyone!
